We keep our prices very low by limiting our overall overhead. Rather than having you come to a large dealership lot, for example, you just browse our inventory online. In addition to helping to keep our prices low, this also limits the emissions you’ll be producing when you are driving from dealership to dealership. Of course, since we don’t have car lots throughout the region, we are not harming the environment nearly as much. This really is a great combination. Whether you want to drive the Smart Pure Coup, the Electric Drive or any of the other vehicles in the Smart lineup, we are here for you.
Vehicles from Smart are made to be inexpensive, but never cheap. This means you can get a very reliable vehicle that is surprisingly comfortable and fun to drive for a very low monthly payment. When you choose the vehicle you want, whether it is from Smart or another manufacturer, you will need to make sure you are getting the leasing terms that work for you and your budget. We can help to ensure everything is exactly how you want it. The following are a few of the most important factors you need to consider when thinking about the terms of your new lease:
• Monthly Price – Of course, the monthly cost of the vehicle is very important. We can help you to keep this payment very low.
• Financing – Related to the monthly price, you will need to have good financing ready. Our financing team can help secure you the loan you need at a very low interest rate no matter what type of vehicle you are looking for.
• Length of Lease – The length of your lease is also very important. Some people like very short leases, and others prefer them a bit longer. Whatever it is you want, we’ll help to get it set up for you.
• Miles – All leases have some limits on the number of miles that you are able to drive before the vehicle is returned. We can help customize that number to match your driving habits.
Of course, there are other factors involved as well, and we can help you with those too. Our only goal is to help get you into the vehicle that you want, with the right terms that fit for you. If you have any questions about our auto leasing company, or you are ready to start moving forward with your lease, please give us a call at 718-871-CARS (2277). We will be happy to help you in any way we are able.
Smart is a German automotive brand and division of Daimler AG. The company is based in Böblingen, Germany. It produces microcars and subcompacts, primarily the Fortwo and Forfour. The primary assembly plant is the Smartville in Hambach, France. A second plant exists in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. Marketed in 46 countries around the world, production of the Fortwo had surpassed 1.7 million units by early 2015.
The name Smart derives from the cooperation of the Swiss company Swatch with Mercedes-Benz: “Swatch Mercedes ART”. In its branding, the company lowercases its logotype and the logo incorporating a “c” and an arrow for “compact” and “forward-thinking” respectively.
The design concept for the company’s automobiles began at Mercedes-Benz in the early-1970s to late-1980s. After brief backing by Volkswagen, the first model was released by Daimler-Benz in October 1998. Several variants on the original design have been introduced, with the original being the “Fortwo”.
The Smart Car actually has a very interesting history, despite it being quite a young marque.
The makers of Swatch (the brand of watches that were huge in the eighties and nineties), SMH, started developing an idea for a new car using the same type of personalization that they used in their watches. The CEO, Nicolas Hayek, believed that the automotive industry had ignored the customers that wanted a small, stylish car. They soon called this idea the ‘Swatchmobile’, which thankfully, didn’t stick.
Hayek, however, didn’t want to compete with the rest of the automotive industry by introducing the ‘Swatchmobile’ because he thought that other manufacturers would feel threatened. Probably not if they went ahead with the name ‘Swatchmobile’ but anyway, instead of competing, he wanted to cooperate. And so Hayek approached several manufacturers about his idea, finally reaching an agreement with Volkswagen to share the development of the new city car.
Unfortunately for Swatch, Volkswagen had a new CEO in 1993 who wanted to terminate the project with SMH. Hayek had an inkling that this was going to happen, and so started looking for other partners. After being turned down by several manufacturers including Fiat and Renault, he reached an informal agreement with Daimler-Benz AG, the makers of Mercedes-Benz.
The deal was announced in 1994 with the formation of Micro Compact Car AG. It would consist of two subsidiaries; MCC GmbH which would design the car and SMH Auto SA, which was owned by Hayek, who would design a hybrid electric drive system for the car.
The first Smart car was launched in October 1998, but Hayek was disappointed with the final design. While he wanted it to be a hybrid, the first Smart car was instead a conventional fuel-powered car.
The Swatchmobile became known as the Smart car, a name derived from the internal name for the project: Swatch Mercedes Art Car. The Smart Fortwo made its debut at the Frankfurt auto show in 1997 and was in production by the middle of 1998, the same year that Mr. Hayek was forced out by Mercedes. The Smart Fortwo officially went on sale in the United States in 2008.
Smart is owned and produced by Mercedes’ parent, Daimler AG. Smart had already stopped selling the gasoline-powered Fortwo in America, restricting the lineup to include only the electric model starting in 2017. The 2019 Smart EQ Fortwo is still on sale, for the time being, starting at $24,650, but won’t be around for long.
The production facility of all Smart vehicles is located in Hambach, France. However, there is also an assembly plant, which is located in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
Everything depends on the version of Smart you are looking for. For instance, the Smart ForTwo is available as a convertible and a coupe. Inventory prices for the 2020 ForTwo range from $8,337 to $18,877.
It can be difficult to predict its longevity. Generally, a Smart car can last up to 2-3 decades if it is maintained well. Its maintenance procedure is less complicated as compared to the aftercare regimen of conventional automobiles. If you are looking for a reliable and economical vehicle, Smart would be a great option for you. Contact our sales representative to find out the lease deals we offer.
